The Rebrand!

Hello!

Firstly thank you to everyone for being so supportive with the change - I’ve been blown away by the response and all of the lovely feedback received.

So why the change?

I’ve been sitting on this for a long time - If you’ve been here for a while, you will have previously known me as LR Watercolours, which was the name I can’t say I gave much thought to when first starting up my instagram and just posted pictures of my work for fun.
Fast forward a couple of years, and where I see the business going, that name just didn’t sit right anymore. Not only from a business point of view but even I felt like I had outgrown that name so it was definitely time for a change. LR Watercolours will always be how it started, but I think as long as the business was operating under that name, in my mind it always would have been my ‘side hustle’, which it is far from these days!
So shout out to my gut instinct for telling me it was time to shed the old, and transition to something new. It’s never let me down this far!

So here we are!

Introducing Little Roglets :)

The little hedgehog you see on the logo who will be appearing everywhere.. I mean everywhere, is based off of one of my own paintings I did a few years back. Working with a graphic designer, we were able to bring my sketch to life and I couldn’t be happier with it. It took a long time to get the paintbrush that he’s holding right (must have been at least 6-8 revisions on the paintbrush alone), but we got there in the end. I’m so pleased with the end result and from the feedback I’ve received too, it’s the perfect logo for my brand and again, not only sums up the business but has also somehow captured parts of my personality, which I’m chuffed with.

Of course it was a given that the green had to stay, but I also wanted to incorporate earthy tones where possible.
One of the first versions was a grey hedgehog on a green background but we soon realised that wasn’t right. Then it was a green hedgehog on a white background, that also wasn’t right. The process of getting the colours just right was a lengthy one!

Originally I was set on having the LR shown in the logo too (pictured left of one of the first sketches I sent to the designer), as I was concerned with the transition of going from one name to something completely different. After giving myself a pep talk, and thought if I’m doing this, I may as well do it properly so went straight in with a complete change. I also thought I wanted flow-y text, but that quickly changed too.

Although deciding against showing the LR as a focus in the logo, it wasn’t actually my intention to come up with a name that also ended up having the original LR hidden in it (first letters of Little Roglets), so that’s another aspect I love about it. It’s so much more than just a logo, there are a lot of personal meanings behind both the name and hedgehog itself which I’ll explain in more detail another day.. maybe.

Thanks for being here, and thanks again for the overwhelmingly, lovely response.

Lex xx
